Comprehensive

Eye Exams

Eye exams are an essential component of overall wellness. During a comprehensive eye exam, Dr. Honeycutt will update your glasses or contact lens prescription. Using the latest technology, she will also evaluate the health of your eyes and screen for common eye diseases such as dry eye, cataracts, and glaucoma. Many eye problems do not cause obvious symptoms. It is important to have an eye exam annually, so that any issues can be detected and treated early on to prevent long-term damage or vision loss.

Pediatric

Eye Care

We offer comprehensive eye exams for all ages. Your child does not have to know their letters or be able to choose between “option one or option two” in order to have a comprehensive eye exam. A child can have their first eye exam as early as 9-12 months of age.

During a pediatric eye exam, extra attention is given to be sure that the child’s focusing ability is age appropriate and that their eyes are able to work together as a team. Pictures, 3D glasses, toys, and movies are all part of the fun involved in a pediatric eye exam.

Contact Lens

Exams

Dr. Honeycutt will thoroughly evaluate your eyes to determine which lens modality, material, design, and lens care system will work best for your lifestyle and any eye conditions you that may have.

Contact lens technology has improved so much in recent years that it’s rare that we have to tell a patient that they are not a candidate for contact lenses. Today, contact lenses can correct for things like astigmatism and presbyopia (difficulty seeing up close).

Whether you’re interested in soft daily or monthly replacement contact lenses or traditional gas permeable contact lenses, it’s important to consult your optometrist for a contact lens fitting, so that we can customize the lens to suit your unique eye shape and vision needs.

FAQs

Do you see kids for exams?

Yes, we see kids of all ages in our office.

How old does my child have to be to wear contact lenses?

There is no magic age for this. This is highly dependent on how motivated your child is to wear contact lenses and if they have the maturity to handle the responsibility of contact lens care. Children can wear all types of contact lenses, including gas permeable, soft, and corneal reshaping contact lenses. Corneal reshaping and soft multifocal contact lenses have even been shown to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children.

Are daily disposable or monthly replacement contact lenses better?

Daily disposable lenses are a great option because it’s the easiest way to wear a contact lens. Because you throw away your lenses at the end of each day, you don’t need to purchase contact lens solution or cases or take the time to clean the lenses every night. This greatly reduces the complications that can result from contact lenses worn for longer periods of time. This makes daily disposables a good option for new or young contact wearers.

Different contact lenses are better for different lifestyles. Your doctor will take into account your ocular health and your goals for contact lens wear to make the best recommendation for you.

Do you do surgery?

No. If the doctor determines that surgery may be needed to treat your condition, she will provide you with a referral for a surgery consultation.
