Contact Lenses

If you aren’t looking to wear glasses full time, custom lenses may be a great option for you. By scheduling a Contact Lens Exam at Dr. Honeycutt can determine what lenses are best for you based on your eye health and overall lifestyle.

At Mogadore Eye Care, we want to make sure you are seeing your very best. When it comes to your lenses, we choose quality coatings and materials for optimal clarity.

Lens Materials

CR-39 is a basic lens material that provides good clarity; however, it is not impact resistant and tends to be heavier and thicker. It is not recommended for most people.

While it does not have the greatest optical clarity, this lens material is impact resistant, lightweight, and great for any safety or sports eyewear.

Our most recommended lens material for everyday wear because it is lightweight, impact and scratch resistant, and has better optical clarity than polycarbonate. This is also a great material for safety or sports eyewear.

High Index

These lens materials are recommended for high prescriptions because they are lighter and thinner, which makes your glasses more comfortable and cosmetically appealing.

Lens Designs

Single Vision

Standard lenses for the correction of myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

Single vision lenses with aspheric lens designs that alleviate tired eyes, headaches and/or blurred vision when doing lots of near work such as computer tasks. Many anti-fatigue lenses come with blue light protection added as well.

This lens design has two focal lengths and is typically used for distance and reading.

Lenses that allow you to see at multiple distances. This multifocal lens does not have any visible lines and is great for someone who wants visual freedom because you can use these lenses for driving, computer, and near work.

Lens Treatments

Anti-Reflective or Anti-Glare

Lens treatment that helps to eliminate glare, scratches, smudges, and dust. This also makes your eyeglasses more cosmetically appealing by eliminating glare in photographs.

Polarized lenses filter light from entering the lens. This eliminates unwanted glare on the water, road, etc. helping you see more clearly. Polarized lenses are great for outdoor activities such as fishing, biking and other sports.

Transition Lenses

When exposed to UV light, transition lenses activate and become darker. This is convenient for those who do not like carrying a pair of sunglasses. This technology has blue light protection built in and comes in multiple colors including mirror coatings.

Are daily disposable or monthly replacement contact lenses better?

Daily disposable lenses are a great option because it’s the easiest way to wear a contact lens. Because you throw away your lenses at the end of each day, you don’t need to purchase contact lens solution or cases or take the time to clean the lenses every night. This greatly reduces the complications that can result from contact lenses worn for longer periods of time. This makes daily disposables a good option for new or young contact wearers.

Different contact lenses are better for different lifestyles. Your doctor will take into account your ocular health and your goals for contact lens wear to make the best recommendation for you.

Do you carry kids frames?

Yes, we carry a variety of kids frames including Ray Ban, DB4K, and Dilli Dalli – suitable for babies

How old does my child have to be to wear contact lenses?

There is no magic age for this. This is highly dependent on how motivated your child is to wear contact lenses and if they have the maturity to handle the responsibility of contact lens care. Children can wear all types of contact lenses, including gas permeable, soft, and corneal reshaping contact lenses. Corneal reshaping and soft multifocal contact lenses have even been shown to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children.
